OCZ has finally announced the price tag and the release date of their upcoming OCZ Colossus 1TB SSD. It will start shipping in mid August for a retail price of $2,500. As a reminder, the drive comes in a 3.5-inch format and provides a reading speed up to 250MB/s and a writing speed up to 220MB/s. [OCZ via Ubergizmo]
OCZ’s new Colossus SSD drive was debuted at Computex last month. Available in capacities ranging from 128GB to 1TB, all of the drives come in a 3.5-inch enclosure that sports two RAIDed SSD drives mounted to a single PCB. A-Data has announced a new line up of 2.5-inch solid state drives, the SX95. Available in 32GB, 64GB, 128GB and 256GB, these XPG-branded drives deliver maximum read/write speeds of 230/180 MB/s (128GB and 256GB models) or 210/140 MB/s (32GB and 64GB models). The SX95 SSDs also feature MLC (multi-level cell) NAND flash memory chips, a SATA 3.0 Gbps interface, a MTBF of 1 million hours and an “onboard DRAM cache buffer.” Unfortunately, there’s no word on pricing and release date yet. Memorysolution has come out with a new SSD in the form of the 64GB Maxflash. This new SSD provides a reading speed up to 160MB/s and a writing speed up to 70MB/s. It also features a SATA 3.0 Gbps interface, MLC NAND flash memory chips, a JMicron controller and a mini USB connector. Transcend has released a new SSD25D Solid State Drive that provides up 64MB of integrated DRAM cache and comes in 60GB and 120GB storage space. The drive boasts transfer speeds of up to 230MB/s read and 180MB/s write and around 1ms latency. The SSD25D also features an industry-standard 3.0Gb/s SATA II interface and 2.5-inch form factor to allow easy and straightforward user installation in most notebooks and desktop computers, just like a conventional hard drive.
